Columbia are one of the dark horses in Brazil this year especially with their squad, which includes Jackson Martinez, Fredy Guarin and of course Falcao – who still has a chance of making it to Brazil despite his injury. Add in the standard of their opposition – Ivory Coast, Japan and Greece – all of whom are good (but not great) sides and you would expect them to at least qualify from the group, although their biggest competition for the top spot is probably the Ivory Coast.
Group C Runner Up Odds
The standout side for second place is probably the Ivory Coast – they are 2.00 to qualify at Bwin and with a squad including the likes of Didier Drogba, Wilfried Bony, Salomon Kalou and Yaya Toure, this should be their minimum aim. Japan can boast players such as Keisuke Honda and Shinji Kagawa but the strength of their opposition might prove to be a bit too much. Japan are 2.25 to qualify at Ladbrokes . Greece are also capable of causing a few shocks – Euro 2004 springs to mind – but they aren’t expected to do much in Brazil – Greece are 3.4 to qualify with BetFair.
Best Group C Bet
Nothing can ever be ruled out in a tournament, especially the World Cup, but based on squad strength, first and second place will surely be between Columbia and the Ivory Coast.
Columbia are 1.83 to win the group and 1.3 to qualify at PaddyPower.
The Ivory coast are 5.00 to win the group and 2.00 to qualify at Coral.
